I'm always looking for E&L hardware, manuals and misc. items
from the 70's and early 80's.
Email me if you have something I
might want!
Documents for Download - Note - I can also provide you with a CD of these files for $10.00US, email me for more info.

I have three operational MMD-1's in my collection. One of them included the EID-1 add-on listed below. I've been able to make backup copies of the KEX 1702A EPROM and can supply you with a good one if needed (Email me).

MMD-1 Links
MMD-1 - Unit 1
- From around 1980
- Date codes are 7901 thru 8014
- Fuse holder and power switch are on the units back panel
- The unit is operational
- The original EPROM has been removed for archival. I hare replaced it with a 1702A I programmed on my TENOR EPROM programmer.
- The 8080 signals are NOT connected to the proto-board, over the years someone has disconnected them.
- Pull up resistors have been added to the data bus (see the PCB backside photos)
MMD-1 - Unit 2
- From around 1978
- Date codes are 7740 thru 7810
- The EPROMS are date code 7626
- They appear original and are labeled KEX and L/D
- Fuse holder and power switch are on the front
- The 8080 signals are brought out through the proto board
- The 8080 signal labels are clean and in great shape
- The keyboard uses an adapter PCB to mount it
- Additional heatsinks have been attached outside the case on the power supply regulators.
MMD-1 with MMD-1/MF Expansion Board - Unit 3
- The MMD-1 is from around 1980
- Date codes are 7936 thru 8031
- The 8080 signals are brought out through the proto board
- The 8080 signal labels are clean and in great shape
- A circuit has been added on the prototype area the displays the data byte in Octal.
- The MMD-1/MF is from 1981
- Date codes are 7943 thru 8122
MMD-1 Misc
I have a number of miscellaneous items for the MMD-1 including:
- Keypad upgrades, these are replacement keypads for early MMD-1s
- An original uninstalled MMD-1 keypad (old style)
- MMD-1 DBUG EPROM Set (I need the manual to go with these)
- Several copies of the L/D EPROM, this is the Load/Dump EPROM for use with the MMD-1/MF Expansion Board
- MULTIPLE BAUD ADAPTER - this allowed the MMD-1/MF Expansion Board's TTY to run at different BAUD rates (Download Manual)
- 1K RAM Expansion Packaging
- TTY/Cassette Cable
The MMD/PP is an EPROM programmer for use with the MMD-1. It programs 1702 EPROMs only. The unit is interfaced to the MMD-1 via the 40-pin ribbon cable. It carries it's own operating program in a 1702 onboard.
The EID-1 is an add-on for the MMD-1. It plugs into the expansion connector on the MMD-1. It provides a D/A, an A/D, a DC motor, photocell etc. I was able to figure out the port assignments from the silkscreen and have successfully written test code to drive the components on the EID-1.
I've been in contact (05/2006) with the designer of the EID-1/AID-1, he told me that they renamed the unit from EID-1 to AID-1 to help emphasis the analog components on it.
The AID-1 is an add-on for the MMD-1. It plugs into the expansion connector on the MMD-1. It provides a D/A, an A/D, a DC motor, photocell etc. The AID-1 appears identical to the EID-1 except for the silk screen which identifies this unit as 'AID-1 Analog Interface Designer'.
