Neil's Little E&L Collection

I'm always looking for E&L hardware, manuals and misc. items from the 70's and early 80's.
Email me if you have something I might want!

MMD-2 - Microcomputer Design System

I have two MMD-2's in my collection. This one was not operational when I bought it. I was able to obtain the HEX files for the EPROMs (2716s) and have successfully programmed a set for it. It took some time but I was able to bring the unit back to life. The reset switch had failed closed which held the system in reset. Once the switch was replaced and the new EPROMs installed the unit powered up. I've written some simple test programs for it.

MMD-2 Links

Some pictures of the MMD-2 before I repaired it. Note the empty EPROM sockets in the 2nd picture.

From an email I received form the designer of the MMD-2:

The power of the MMD-2 was that it could duplicate itself, that is, with the 3 Map swap system you could write code that could be tested at the boot address of 0000H 0000L and then later burn the EPROMs to run in the final system mode.

It was so powerful and so low cost that it failed to sell very well to the general population.

Good luck with it.

Dick

I haven't taken pictures you of my second MMD-2, it is however fully operational.

Paddle Card

The paddle card plugs into the STD BUS connector on the side of the MMD-2 and converts the bus to the MMD-1 bus allowing MMD-1 peripherals to be connected to the MMD-2.

TTY / Cassette Cable

I have one cable marked 'TTY Cable' in my collection, it is still in the shipping bag. It only has the end on it to connect to the TTY/Cassette Ports on the MMD-1/MF Expansion Board or to the cassette port on the on the MMD-2
